New IVR System for Telecom Egypt

The new Interactive Voice Response (IVR) application, developed by eT3 , takes advantage of the great revolution caused by the use of digital technology.  This new IVR replaces the old IVR, which was also developed by eT3 , and built on analog technology.  The new IVR utilizes digital cards supplied by Dialogic (Dialogic Company is a member of Intel Group).

These digital cards work on either E1 or T1 lines.  E1 lines is the digital lines supported in Egypt (by Telecom Egypt); E1 lines offer a two-way connection at 2,048,000 bits per second. One E1 circuit carries up to 30 simultaneous  phone conversations in digital form utilizing one channel (telephone number), whereas the analog card carries up to 16 simultaneous phone conversation and needs 16 channels.  So the E1 line gives a far better use of the available resources (telephone lines) in addition to the many advantages of using digital technology above the analog tech (security, quality of communication .).

The new IVR system has all the features of the old system. It collects information from the user through the phone and inserts this information in a database and feeds the user with information from the database. Also it can be used to send faxes and e-mails upon the user's request.

Telecom Egypt is the first organization to implement the new eT3 -IVR system. They plan to use IVR for telephone bills inquiry in 5 different locations ( 3 areas in Cairo and 2 in Alexandria) as a first stage. Each location will be provided with from one to five PCs (each PC carries one dialogic card, which means the ability to receive 30 telephone line on each PC)
